Story of a Bear

To go the extra mile wearing spectacles with cleansed visions of tomorrows and of Johanna clean and clear

For the night is a swimming pool filled with coffee in which I swim with the moon and an inflated tiger that refuses to sink

Fear is a cloudy kite that flies and floats over our heads reflecting our states of mind in three dimensions of solid, liquid, and gas

On a night with dreams of hunting vultures and complex numbers listening to old tunes where young men and women long to be in the arms of each other

And the other song is sung to the tune of silver moonlight that floods the rooms of lonely lovers with windows hiding behind or on the other side of thin blue veils curtains

Their songs are sung with mandolins of eight strings each – eight, eight, eight upright infinities and the number of prime numbers unknown like the intentions of lovers

Who make promises in desert mirages and mirror images of desert sands and camels that are the ships of the desert that however promise not to sink when they brush against icebergs of the desert sand dunes oh the seas of sand

But the promises of lovers who leave refuse to leave the wind – or should one call it the breeze of the desert – as they move from left to right and then from the west to the east moving against sunlight but with the shadows

Shadows of long coats have arms that are longer than the arms of the law flaw claw blah, blah, blah – country singers have sung more and much more about that

But what made a lover leave their lover with four hundred children when listened to for the first time later corrected by someone else that the children are just hungry – four hungry children – and it is impossible to remember the capital of Hungary when you wake up from a dream in the middle of the night on a steel cot whose skin is cold like that of a lizard that wears the skin of a lion or a lizard falling into a tin of blue paint running amok through forests claiming to be the kin of every animal in the forest till it rains

New letters of new lovers pretend to be something else – like sheets of a calendar that measure the passing of many a birthday, wedding anniversaries, festivals, annual days of remembrance and pages of newspapers are filled with little boxes paid for by the square inches – announcements, obituaries, words, words, words, wanted salespersons! Apply here, here and here – there – post box numbers, prime numbers, seventeen or thirty-one ah well just another evening of a bluesy Sunday when the sun has set once upon a long time ago listening to the story of a bear that did not mind being a bear that once went on a long walk seeing a lion the way behind the rustling of a shrub or should one call it a bush I wonder what you would have called it had you been there – I wonder what you would say had you been here and I wonder where you are now, I wonder what you would have said to me had you been there and the bear runs home but the lion takes a shortcut and reaches home even before the bear does and the bear opens the door to see the lion that the bear thinks is another lion and so as the story goes in past tense, the bear ran to its friend’s house and stayed there for five hours till it felt safe before coming home and oh what joy to find a home sweet home so safe and clean – ideally there should be an exclamation mark here but everything is ok on a day like this – or should it be anything is ok – should there be a question mark here – but they everything and anything goes so, so

692

6 is the nine on its head
9 sits smug between eight and ten
2 more and then eleven
that about 692, enough said!

(yay!)

at least in my dream the night before, i got a hole (yay!) with my newly bought shirt and skirt, at no extra cost.

'free, free!' i remember the wrapper paper screaming, about the hole that came absolutely free with my new shirt and my skirt (yay!)

once worn, the hole along with the new shirt and my skirt, i remember seeing the green (yay!) of the next layer of clothing below or just pale brown (yay!) of the skin - that depended on where i chose to wear the hole that came

absolutely 'free free' with my new shirt and skirt (yay!)

faces in blue and brown and a tiger half done

lines, flashes of light -
ning in colours chosen,
smoothened curves in blue
and the fills in between
radially inside out, light
green to red to blue to yell
ow - with red fenced strokes
thickness ten, yellow inside
a set of seven suns. a face in blue
with ochre lips, blue curls, hair
a border in dark blue. a face in
lines brown and strokes of blue
wash behind. then there is the
tiger on a mat with triangular
patterns. the tiger, brightness change.
whiskers in gray. teeth extruded
solid coloured faces, 5 measures
deep, wide and long. random py
ramids. lit from below and the be
ginning of boredom brings to it
the end. beginning of a new game
with old tricks learnt somewhere
far away to while away some time.

fur

you are made to sit on a revolving chair.
the radio plays some music.
the air around smells of talcum powder.
you sit comfortable and remove your spectacles.
you get ready.
the man gets closer, asks you what.
'army', 'military' you say and he smiles at you.
you return the smile.
he plugs in the handheld machine and gets closer.
then for the next five minutes you hear the hum of the machine.
the machine moves around your head, vibrations on your scalp, your skull.
after five minutes he stops the machine.
he picks up a comb and a pair of scissors.
he sculpts the lines that demarcate the long from the short.
the difference slowly vanishes, then there is the pleasant satisfactory gradient.
then he snips around click and click, music to your ears, the metallic clicks of the scissors.
then he pulls out a knife looking razor, then half a razor blade, new.
scritch and scritch and the hazy lines sharpen, forming distinct boundaries.
then in the end , in the mirror there is you and the man next to you, both smiling.
'this wasn't me when i came here' you think to yourself.
the man next to you then pulls out a cotton puff and sprinkles talcum powder on it.
talcum powder on your neck.
then there is an exchange of money.
'well done' you think to yourself as you walk out the glass door.
someone else takes your seat.
the man gets closer to the revolving chair, asks him what.

balloons oh balloons

balloons.
balloons in sizes many.
balloons small, balloons large.
balloons in red, blue, green, yellow and white.
balloons to play.
and more balloons to play.
floating around, tied to a string, the other end the hand that holds.
and hands to hold and play with.
helium balloons, balloons with breaths.
flying high and high or just floating from above.
balloons fear not a fall.
balloons always float and land safe.
i play balloons.
balloons play me.
balloons play my mind.
i see balloons and balloons can see too.
balloons oh balloons.
helium balloons are hard to reach, but not impossible.
helium breaths are likeable.
i play helium balloons when on a hill top or the top of the world.
balloons with breaths are more likeable.
balloons with breaths or sighs float and land but not fall.
balloons with breath appeal when i sit in a dark pit, below, deep below.
balloons, I always play balloons.
balloons are balloons.
balloons are balloons and more.
i play balloons, the balloons play me.
and to play balloons is to be.
balloons oh balloons.

salt. pepper. spice.

(a) jester, a clown, an impish elf
(uh) another shadow yourself
(oh) new faces, new stories every day
(ha) endlessly to sing and then to sway
(a) rubik’s cube solving itself
(hmm) by tossing and turning oneself
(heh) easily and effortlessly (a crown, a bee)
(huh) ever a puzzle, else a mystery

summer evening

this year
or must be last -
summer breeze

17 July 2010

hare and rabbit (hide and seek)

The hare and the rabbit
Played hide and seek

The hare hid went afar and
Hid itself behind a tree

The rabbit quit playing
And slept where it stood

The hare waited behind the tree
While the rabbit just slept

Both till sunset
And so on till the next day

fifty oil pastel stars

last night i could count
fifty stars, oil pastel blue
on the sky, at a distance
twinkling to themselves
twinkling for no one

last night i stopped counting
stars - once i counted fifty
bright blue oil pastel stars
that twinkled for no one
and went to sleep

last night in my dreams
i saw more bright blue stars
fifty more of them i could count
in bright blue oil pastel
i counted the stars, till fifty
that twinkled to themselves

and woke up to this morning

evenings

any evening is good enough for you to see through the grave your own
for time repeats and time is so full of stories and the stories repeat with time
moments replace one another as moments pass by when today is a fond memory
and yesterdays long forgotten to take you to the next day when new flowers are abloom already
stories of people wearing red caps only to prove the uncertainty in real or in paintings
everyone has a version of their own yesterday and it is only a lesson
for one's own self and for everyone else when realizations do dawn from somewhere
across the table or from somewhere besides when you know what from inside woke up
to show you things in real a lion or a red bit of paper of only shadows of eyes for
nostalgia does help at times but not always for nostalgia only blocks the way to rush
forward towards tomorrow or the next day of life or the next pointless living moment
with no element of surprise, woo - hoo, and this is new, yes, brand new
totally out of the gift wraps that we never knew
neither i or them or he or she or it or you, oh yes neither i nor you
time to taste the latest brew, the super potent dark brown brew
the shade of the dark night sky
the shade of a failed try
and the moments pass, as the minutes now are then past, as you grow old
you only know it's all

gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold gold!

seasons

next summer will be just another summer
without a thought

or another seven summers down it'll
still be the same

for shadows show not the shades
of brown or gray

leaves fall not only autumn but they
do summer and spring too

30 June 2010

the june tune

realization of time repeating itself
and the moments in life hence
june ends, begins july

to fly

and the very last day at the end
of the world, the place of mythical
legends, the sun sets in

ha, oh my

then are born the stars and golden
fountains and black clouds in steel gray
and red cherries in fruit juices green

only to try

to be and to talk consciousness
of philosophers and men of the mind
and philosophies and the ways of the mind

by and by

the golden glow fills from inside and
disappears from outward in when
the words get intensely intense

deep and high

stories and books and depression
and paranoia, is not uncommon amongst
tamed lions of the circus behind the cages

a string and a tie

easy to see and easy to be
limitless and mindful and free
to be clear sans fog, as can be

and then a sigh

to be all hopeless inside but
still be hopeful on the outside
for tamed lions in a circus - and to confide

is no lie

and then to know hope
when the smell of hope fills the air
all over and all around, hope and hope

is worth a try

the ways to where you should go
in twos or in threes or in fours
only long thoughts when follow

a night and a good bye

26 June 2010

Sat-err-day

the sun rises late when you wake up late
what use is a day when one knows it not
but the moon was not on all the time
when one is fast asleep, dreaming reality
the stars twinkled invisibly for a careful eye

when awake after glasses full of water and
the late realization of yet another late night rain
after the cleansing of vision beyond the mist
only scrambled eggs and coffee wake up
to make up for the forgotten meals in between

stars

it only takes a night
with the stars on the roof
stars, stars and starts
to realize stars for stars

twinkling

one moon many stars
one moon won stars
without a complaint
it's the other side

in no time

"So, do you have a mole on your head?"

"No... Erm... But I do have a mole on my upper-lip..."

"No, no... something on your head? Say, a mark?"

"Yes, I do have a birth mark on my head..."

"Ah, so I was told..."

"Yes, I told her..."

"You told her too!"

"Yes I did!"

Same old song (and dance)

Stones: I can't get no satisfaction!
Traffic: Seven is in your mind (or heaven is in your mind)
Doors: Five to one baby, one in five!
Stones: You can't always get what you want...
Ozzy: I'm just a dreamer...
Lennon: But I'm not the only one!
Dylan: All I really want to do...
Lennon: Mind games?
Ozzy: Good bye to romance!
Janis: What good can drinkin' do?
Dylan: The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind...
Scorpions: The winds of change?
Dylan: For the times they are a changin'...
Jason Mraz: Life is wonderful!
Neil Young: One of these days...
Harrison: All things must pass away...
Metallica: And nothing else matters!
Jim Morrison: Wake up!

seven

all that you can write
in seven minutes
is all that can stay
not more, seven minutes is
all you'll ever have
to tell them what you have to say
paint a picture you

or can sketch a dream
in the shape of seven
in seven minutes you can weave
a rainbow across the sky
a minute per colour
sixty seconds per shade for
the rain stops at the end of

seven minutes!

Log

Things end at the end of six
Things gone are born again in seven
Seven, begins – nothing has changed
Yet times have changed
Times have changed,
As have things

Landed, floored, marked, seconded
Booked, sectioned
Running late, on the way
Forgive
Forgiven

Existentialism is
Existentialism is all about is
ness
Existentialism is not excreta
Existentialism is,
Et cetera
Existentialism is all of everything
That is

Spunky groupies
In goaties, styles of talking
And choice of words –
Spunky, new, groupies, not so
A word a day
Can keep you all away

High school parties, wealth of
Nations
Heh, feel good!

Oh not to forget lips
Black

Things have changed
So have the times

Cleansed doors of perception
Bottom(s) up approach
To the singer or the song
Leather pants

Choice of clichéd words
Subconscious

Stories, ambitions, ten years from
Now, then, past twenty years hence
Forward from now
Stories, sorrow, “where did I go wrong?”
No, not you, not me, it’s just me
Spoon feed not sorrow, encrypt it
Encapsulate in husk – difficult to reach
Do not spoon feed sorrow,
I repeat

Times have changed
So have things

And then soon,
Happy Birthday.
