hope

a friend from past that you
longed to meet, and then,
on one purple day
the wish turns real -
in definite shades of disappointment

on the realization -
of effects of time
and disconnected lives,
on everyone all around
friend included

the unhappy end of a
long cherished wish

that is what hope must be like.

But, say, how many times has the meeting-the-friend lived up to or been greater than the expectations? So all that one hopes for may not come true, but that doesn't mean all hope is in vain!

Logically, yes. But then there are these momentary lapses of reason, where logic fails to answer the questions - whys or why nots.

Expectations: Not conscious ones though, helpless unconscious ones, sub-conscious ones, when 'hope' just becomes a meaningless, almost offensive four letter word (this doesn't tire me out, never).
