lightnings, and the never ending day...

say for instance there comes this day
with the promise of it never ending
the longest day, the only day - and
no more nights, no more ends to this day
you have already had your last night
and you knew not when it was
that it was the last night
the nights that you love
the nights that you long for
the end of days that you wait for -
for darkness to fall and fill you all around
the only night that you were to have
was spent in sleeping, last night, the last night

say for instance there comes this day
and say that day is already here
would the lightnings cease to strike?
